Meetings

We have meetings every Thursday during the academic year from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The location for our meetings this semester is St. Paul's Chapel, on Columbia's Morningside Campus. See our Facebook page for regular updates, or join our email list here.

All Columbia students and their guests are welcome to attend. It is not necessary to be Buddhist, or even spiritual. We find that the practice of meditation can be beneficial to all human beings, and we will gladly share our practice with all who are open to receive.
At each of our weekly meetings, we invite a guest speaker from one of the schools or temples around the New York area, either from a religious or secular form of Buddhism, or have a student-led mediation. We welcome teachers from many different Buddhist traditions to come share their teachings with us, and many different students to share their insight into meditaiton with the rest of the group, usually in the form of a reading. Typically, the teacher or student will lead a guided meditation exercise, then give a talk, and answer questions from the students. Although our formal meeting concludes at around 8:30, many students stay later in order to continue conversations over tea, provided after meditation.

By the way, no need for cushions. Just bring yourself!
